9 Months Old!
So this update is a bit late - but, wow we are just so busy! Sydney too, has been a little busy bee and is ALL over the place these days! She is still doing her combat crawl but can get from the living room to the slider to the kitchen in no time flat. Every now and again, she gets up onto all fours and rocks a bit but hasn't moved forward in this position just yet. If she could have it her way (and she usually does!) she would prefer that we sit on the floor with her and hold her - or be her spotters - while in a standing position. By grabbing onto our hands, she can get upright quite easily.

The biggest challenges lately are keeping Sydney 1) on her changing table, 2) in the bathtub. and 3) in the stroller. She is just so curious about everything around her that she wants to get up and explore.

8 Months Old!
I just can't believe that I have an "8-month-old" daughter! I looked at her sleeping in her crib this morning and couldn't believe how long she looked - stretched out and cozy under her blankies. I remember how we laughed the first time we put her in the crib because it seemed WAY too big for her.
"We could put three more babies in here!"
Lots of growth this past month! She is sitting up really well and seems to enjoy the view from this new position. We took her to Costco this past weekend and she sat in the shopping cart like a BIG GIRL and absolutely loved it. She was very interested in what was going on around her and what we were putting into the cart.
Sitting up also means a new view and position in the bathtub!
She has also been practicing pointing and the "pincer" grip (thumb and first finger.) She'll point at the smallest designs on fabric or pieces of food on her highchair.
I have started looking at baby gates - pretty soon she'll be completely mobile! Her movement right now is restricted to the "combat crawl."
Creeping is your baby's first method of getting around efficiently on his own. Usually, he'll first learn to pull himself with his hands and then get up on his hands and knees. Then he'll figure out how to move forward and backward by pushing off with his knees. (A "combat crawl" is a variation in which one leg is the pusher and the opposite arm the lead puller.)Our first Christmas was exhausting but so much fun! Everyone enjoyed celebrating Sydney's First Christmas and it took Mommy a while to get all of her new goodies unpacked.
On December 26th, we noticed a bump on her gums. . .a TOOTH?? Then I felt it with my finger last week. It's definitely coming out and a second tooth, not far behind. She has been doing quite well considering!
We then ventured up to South Lake Tahoe and stayed with our friends Vivien and Jason and took the girls to see snow for the first time! (After two lines, $$, and a gondola ride we saw some "snow!")

Sydney is 7-Months Old!
| Our Giggly Girl |
Our little girl is now a BIG little girl! Just check her out on the scale!
At her 6-month checkup on the 2nd of December, she weighed 16lbs, 14.4 oz, and was 26 inches long, which put her in the 50% percentile. Her head circumference fell into the 60% percentile.
She also got four more shots, including her flu shot, in her little legs. :(
She is growing and changing at such a faster rate these days. She is getting better at sitting up - and can balance for about 10 seconds on her own before toppling over. When she's on her belly, she does these flying-swimmies and kicks - definitely is trying to mobilize!
| Yay! Time to eat again! |
Sydney is also getting louder! She is trying out new sounds all the time - some of them very cute, some of them just silly. She definitely makes us laugh.
Grammy and Sydney have all kinds of adventures together and I think that Sydney definitely misses her when she goes home on the weekend! (Mommy does!! haha)
Sydney is generally a happy, curious, active baby and is keeping us on our toes.
