Building up her Portfolio!

Sydney had her first professional photoshoot this past weekend and it was a lot of work! Whew! She was a great sport and we got some pretty cute shots even though she was working on NO nap. I looked around and other children had outfit changes, props, and Halloween costumes. . I'm just happy with got through the entire process without any emergency diaper changes, etc,   ;)

You can see all of the pics here.

We're mobile

We tried the Baby Bjorn before, but Sydney was too little and had to face Momma. She didn't care for that too much. Now that she can face the world, she's happy! She "hung out" in there for about an hour.

How Time Flies!

Sydney is 4 Months Old! Lots of changes, once again! Sydney has definitely found her voice and is getting good at making new and different letter sounds - g, b, k, a, and even rasberries.

She loves looking in the mirror at the "other baby," especially during bath time. Syndey has learned to giggle and her favorite toys are her pink dragon, black and white zebra, and the monkey face in her "Who Loves Baby?" picture album.

These days, Syndey is putting EVERYTHING in her mouth - her hands, toys, clothes - anything she can grab on to! We've started brushing her gums at bath time - which actually makes her smile. May that means she won't mind going to the dentist when she's older?!

Sydney attended some big celebrations this past month - Lita and Baba's Anniversary party and her first wedding!

At her 4 month Dr's appt, she weighed in at 12 and a half lbs (35th percentile) and measured 24 and half inches long (65th percentile.) She got her second round of shots and was definitely out of sorts for the couple days that followed. :(

Sydney's 3 Months Old!

Our big girl is 3 months old! We can't believe how much she's changed - and WE'VE changed in the last 3 months! She is still wearing some newborn outfits, if you can believe it, but has graduated to some of her "big girl" 3-Month outfits as well.

This month she definitely moved towards a more predictable napping and sleep schedule. She is awake about an hour and a half before she's ready for her next nap and is sleeping EXCLUSIVELY in her big girl crib! No more sleeping in the swing. She can now lay comfortably in her crib (likes her left side) but still likes to be swaddled. She still loves her bath, which is part of our nightly ritual, and it really helps her calm down and relax in preparation for bedtime. She loves looking in the mirror at the "baby" getting a bath!

Sydney has gone from laying on her activity mat and looking at her animal friends, to smiling and "talking" to them and even reaching for them! She discovered her hands at the end of the month - looking at them very intently and using them to reach out and touch her toys.

Mommy had to go back to work (waaaah!) August 1st, so Sydney spent the week with her new Nanny (YAYY!) Grammie Dawnie and Daddy too. Of course Grammie dressed Sydney up in a new summer outfit each day!

Coos, Smiles, and Shots - Oh my!

Sydney is two months old! Lots of changes the last few weeks - mostly in terms of her awareness of her environment and how she interacts with those around her. She is much more aware of her animal friends on her activity mat and even gives them the occasional smile. She has a beautiful smile and it is enough to cheer you up if you're having a bad day!
Her schedule is becoming more predictable - feed - play - sleep, although she still likes to be cuddled and rocked to sleep. We'll be able to enjoy this cuddle time for a few more weeks. Dr. said that at around 15 weeks (usually 12, but she was 3 weeks early) there's a physiological change that takes place in babies brains where they start to learn certain "habits" and also start to make the switch to needing "adult sleep." This is when it's important to not use all the different techniques available to help them fall asleep - such as rocking, etc. Babies also start to sleep for longer periods of time at night - which will help Mommy quite a bit! I'm sure the first few weeks back at work are going to be rough - Starbucks, here I come!

Waiting for Doctor

Band-aids on my owies :(
At her 2 Month checkup, the Dr. did a head-to-toe check and said she looks great! She actually told Daddy that he should invest in a shotgun cause she's so cute. (We already knew that!) She also congratulated us on surviving the first two months. :)  Sydney weighed in at 8lbs, 11oz, which put her in the 6th percentile for weight. Her length is 22 inches (35th percentile) and head measured 38cm (30th percentile.)  She also got her first big set of immunizations - which was hard for Mommy and Daddy too! Her poor little face turned so red as she cried - so Mommy cuddled her the rest of the day. It was a rough day for her!
Sydney is still wearing her newborn size diapers and clothes so hasn't been able to wear any of her adorable summer dresses yet!
We are following our nightly bath ritual - which she loves - and includes Mozart playing in the background. Even if she's a little fussy, she calms right down in the bath, enjoying the warm water. Bath time is also when Mommy has to give Sydney her liquid vitamins - which doesn't like (her face says it all!) but is such a good girl and takes them anyway.
